For me, to live Barefoot is to nurture my spirit ...

I launched my Barefoot Books business on 30th September 2006 and have been having a great time ever since!
I am a full-time mum to my two-year-old daughter Zoe and it was because of her that I started my Barefoot journey. When Zoe was 6 months old, I came across the boardbook Zoe and her Zebra and, of course, I just had to buy it. I was fascinated by all the different and unusual animals used in this book and my husband and I had to go and look up what a Xoona Moth was!
I wanted to see what other Barefoot titles there were, so went to the website and saw the Stallholder Opportunity advertised. I sent off for details but didn't do anything with them for a few months - I was still getting used to be being a mum!
In August 2006 I made the decision to "go Barefoot" and haven't looked back since. In April 2007 I started storytelling (virtually by accident!) and in July 2007 I officially became The Barefoot Storyteller! I'm now one of those incredibly lucky people who earns money doing what she loves ie being with my daughter, telling stories and being constantly surrounded by books!
I'm passionate about books, I always have been, and I'm even more passionate about helping children to develop a love of stories and reading that will last them a lifetime. I'm more than happy to talk about Barefoot Books, children's reading, storytelling or anything really, so do get in touch if you'd like to learn more!
